Use the Meals To-Go option on the POS menu to sell meals to students.
When a user (for example, Cashier 1) is on the Meals To-Go detail page, other users will not be able to access that student record until that user (Cashier 1) navigates back to the Meals To-Go search page.
If another user is on the Meals To-Go page for a student record to sell meals, when you click Sell Meals for any student record by site (the terminal is unique per school), the following message will appear: [First Name Last Name] is currently completing meals to-go transactions on this terminal.
If a Meals To-Go terminal has not been added for the school or the terminal is not active, the following message will appear when you click the Sell Meals button for the student record:
There isn’t a Meals To-Go Terminal for [School Name] or the terminal is inactive.
Use the following procedure to process meal sales for a student:
1. Go to POS > Meals To-Go. The Meals To-Go Students search page appears.
2. Search for the appropriate student by school, ID, last name, or first name.
3. Click the Sell Meals button for the appropriate student. The Meals To-Go page appears. If the Meals To-Go System Option is set to Enable 5-Day Sales, the meal selection grid for Saturday and Sunday will be disabled. If set to Enable 7-Day Sales, Saturday and Sunday will be enabled.
Days and serving periods (Breakfast, Lunch, Snack, Supper) appear on the left side of the Meals To-Go page. If a school is not set up for a specific serving period (for example, Snack), the corresponding checkboxes for that serving period will be disabled.
4. Select meals by day and serving. The selected meals will appear in the ticket panel on the right side of the page with the following details:
• Day of the week (for example, Monday)
• Date (for example, 11/18)
• Meal Name (for example, Breakfast Meal To-Go)
• Reimbursable meal price
5. The following information appears at the bottom of the ticket panel:
• Sub Total: Sum of the selected meals based on reimbursable price setup.
• Waiver: Applies the current USDA waiver, which allows schools to select meals for free.
• Total: Sum of the selected meals with the applied waiver -$0.00.
Click Clear to remove all selected meals from the current transaction. Click Cancel to cancel the transaction and navigate back to the Student search page.
6. Click Complete Sale to finalize the transaction. Complete Meals To-Go sales are recorded like other standard POS sales and the transactions are captured in the POS meal reports.
Open/Close Till
When you click Complete Sale, the first transaction is submitted and saved and the till is automatically opened for the current day. At 11:59:59 pm, after the close till process runs successfully, the status of the Meals To-Go till will be closed for the day.
