School Startup

After the initial setup, the SIS imports are largely left to run on their own through the automated process. Food service staff should monitor the import results periodically throughout the school year and work with other departments in the district to correct any inaccurate student information at its source.

Horizon strongly recommends that the district be proactive in identifying any potential changes to the SIS file, especially in advance of the new school year. When the SIS file is changing—whether it be its contents, file name, or location—the corresponding integration map in the software must be updated to reflect those same changes.

As part of the annual summer checklist, any automated SIS imports should be disabled prior to performing rollover and then re-enabled in preparation for the start of the new school year. To disable an automated import, go to Admin > Integration, access the integration job, and uncheck the Automate checkbox at the bottom of the Details tab.

Note: If the Automate checkbox is checked, the Override Grade and School Change Threshold (10%) checkbox will not be available (cannot be checked). The following tooltip is available for the option: The threshold may only be overridden on manual integrations.
