You must create categories and items before you can build your menus. Consider the following:
• Make a list of your categories and then create them in FOH. Items are listed by category, usually in groupings such as Drinks, Meals, and A la Carte.
• Create your menu items list ahead of time and make sure cashiers will understand the names.
• Decide whether you will have FOH auto-assign item numbers or if you will assign them on your own.
• If you are using multiple menus per site (for example, Hot Line and Salad Bar), know which terminal assignments in FOH correspond to your sites’ serving stations.
• Serving periods, per site, can be configured to automatically switch from Breakfast to Lunch and present the assigned menu per terminal. Decide if you prefer this behavior (work with Horizon to set up your serving period times).
